This website was started by someone who has no
relatives or friends buried in Green Lawn Cemetery.
My motivation was to help a "granddaughter". It seems her grandmother is interned here and she asked me to help her locate the grave. I made several trips and was not able to find the final resting place of "Grandmom" due to the deplorable condition of the grounds. Then one day I decided to try again so I visited the cemetery and was amazed that the grounds had been cleaned up and the grass maintained in a caring condition. I realized that this was an on going situation as the work could not have possibly been done in a short time.
There is no government funds on a national level, or even on a state or local level to take care of what is considered private property. The company that owned Green Lawn Cemetery is not defunct.
So cleanup and improvements it basically a job for relatives and friends to get together and try to do what they can to maintain the graves and property. Obviously, this is too large a project for them to do it all themselves. Volunteers who are spending their time make a difference!
They need the help of the community and individuals who for whatever personal reason decide to help. With you help they can do much more, they will make a difference. There is something you can contribute; your time, you knowledge, your skills, expertise, and the list goes on. l AM POSITIVE THAT WHATEVER YOU DECIDE TO DO WILL BE APPRECIATED!
